Job Description

Market Compliance Overview

Olam is complex in structure and comprises of several companies and assets worldwide.

The Market Compliance function in Olam is supported by a Risk Committee which reports to the Board of Olam. Across Olam, the global Market Compliance function has the responsibility for the following:

• Design and implementation of the compliance management framework
• Identify the regulatory risks across all jurisdictions (Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia) where Olam operates financial trading businesses
• Implement internal systems and controls in relation to regulatory, corporate and legal trading risks
• Ensure that Olam is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Build relationships with regulators and exchanges on compliance matters
• Provide compliance support and advice to all Olam derivatives trading business units based in Europe, Middle East, North and South America and Asia.
• Training of Olam staff on all regulatory and legal compliance matters and development
• Monitoring of compliance with external regulations and internal policies and procedures

Key Deliverables

Position Summary- Manager EMEA, Market Compliance

To support the Market Compliance Function in all matters related to derivatives compliance in Olam in relation to EMEA commodity legislation and regulatory issues.

The Manager, EMEA will report to the Chief Compliance Officer, Market Compliance (based in USA). Based in Rotterdam (or Geneva), the Manager, EMEA responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Keeping up to date with regulatory requirements in the European, Africa and Middle East region (i.e., derivatives trading rules)
• Developing and maintaining risked based compliance policies including practical implementation of systems and controls and monitoring
• Training management and staff on compliance matters and policies
• Advising the EMEA businesses on regulatory matters and on a case by case basis
• Conducting compliance reviews /audits in concert with other departments
• Implementation of regulatory changes such as MAR, EMIR, MiFID II (e.g., position limits, mandatory clearing, etc.) in collaboration with global MCO team in charge of various projects
• Representing Market Compliance for internal BU clients and external regulatory bodies located in the EMEA.

Requirements

• University degree in business or law; min 5-7 years of experience in a similar role in a trading business, ideally commodity trading, or the commodity business of a financial institution;
• Excellent track record in financial services and knowledge of commodity trading businesses and in particular, the commodities futures markets, the regulated exchanges (e.g., ICE-EU, MATIF, Euronext, SAFEX, DGCX) and involvement with European and Middle East regulators (e.g., FCA, BaFin, AMF, ROHMA, UAE’s SCA, DMCC)
• Experience dealing with UK’s FCA
• Experience conducing compliance training
• Experience with MiFID II
• Experience with UK Market Abuse rules
• Familiarity with ISDA Master Agreements and Protocols
