Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
The Senior Manager Government Affairs will support the Global Government & Community Affairs team on sustainability-related strategic and advocacy initiatives in Europe to help reach adidas’ mid and long-term sustainability ambitions. The role will manage relations with government representatives and industry alliances and associations for adidas primarily in Europe, provide relevant public policy analysis and advocacy, and contribute to the implementation and continuous development of the Global Government Affairs strategy.

The Global Government & Community Affairs members are leading the company’s engagement with government stakeholders and are focused on building trusted relationships, monitoring and informing about policy developments, influencing policymaking, and building adidas’ reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Global Government & Community Affairs department on sustainability-related strategic and advocacy initiatives in Europe to help reach adidas’ mid and long-term sustainability ambitions.
• Establish and manage relations with EU institutions and other government stakeholders in Europe.
• Identify, monitor, and analyze relevant policy developments in Germany and Europe, focusing on sustainability and related issue areas.
• Develop and execute advocacy strategies on policy priorities with a focus on sustainability.
• Understand the organization’s current and future business objectives/-priorities on a timely basis as to how policy developments might affect adidas.
• Provide briefings, guidance and support on critical policy development and to relevant internal business partners.
• Execute internal and external research, provide tangible analysis to develop readily intelligible output to support the company’s advocacy efforts.
• Organize, prepare, and conduct meetings with stakeholders.
• Represent adidas at selected working groups and committees of relevant trade associations.
• Continuously expand and upgrade knowledge and skills by utilizing resources such as reading materials and attending training workshops.
• Enhance day-to-day processes and suggest solutions, develop, and enhance Government Affairs tools (SharePoint, Stakeholder Management Platform, policies etc.), share best practices.
• Lead small-scale to medium-scale internal initiatives (e.g., policy development process updates, framework updates, recruitment).

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
• University degree in Social Science, Economics, Business Administration or related fields.
• 8+ years of experience in public affairs or related fields.
• Evidence of deep public affairs experience in sustainability-related policy areas.
• Minimum 1-2 years management experience.
• Willingness to travel approx. 60 percent of time. The role involves frequent travel to different locations in Europe more often to Brussels, Herzogenaurach
